お前の信じるお前を疑え：『Predictably Irrational: The Hidden Forces that Shape Our Decisions』

『予想どおりに不合理』の原著です。以前に訳書を読んだことはあったものの、Amazon のおすすめリストに現れたのをきっかけに、記憶のリフレッシュのために原書を読んでみました。Kindle 版で 550円（購入時）という安さも魅力的。

英語は平易で専門用語もほとんどなく、読みやすい本でした。2016年の目標に「洋書を読む」的なものを掲げた人には、内容の身近さも相まって良い選択肢だと思います。

改めて読んでみて、普段から意識しておきたいなー、と思ったのは以下のポイント。

The first quirk, as we saw in the case of the basketball tickets, is that we fall in love with what we already have. The second quirk is that we focus on what we may lose, rather than what we may gain. The third quirk is that we assume other people will see the transaction from the same perspective as we do.

自分が持っているもの（物理的なものであれ、アイディアや信条のような精神的なものであれ）を過大評価しがちなこと。

We have an irrational compulsion to keep doors open. It's just the way we're wired. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't try to close them.

選択肢を残そうとすることに労力を消費しがちなこと。

What my friend failed to do when focusing on the similarities and minor differences between two things was to take into account the consequences of not deciding.

「どちらを選ぶか」という状況で細かい違いに囚われて迷ってしまい、「決断しないリスク」を忘れてしまいがちなこと。

When we look at the world around us, much of the dishonesty we see involves cheating that is one step removed from cash.

直接お金のやり取りが絡まない状況では、不正行為を働いてしまいがちなこと。
会社のお金を直接盗むことは、どんなに少額でも「悪いことだ」と直感的に思えても、会社の備品をちょっと”借りる”ことを正当化してしまうなど。。。

特に最後のポイントは、身に覚えがある人も多いのでは…？

他にもいろいろな例が挙げられていますが、時折この本の内容を思い出して、自分の選択・決断を振り返ってみると面白いかもしれませんね。
